“We need so many people to care, so many people to say that, ‘I am willing to make financial and social sacrifices, professional sacrifices, in order to build a better world.’Whoever is questioning whether or not they should do that, I want them to know that they can, and it’ll be okay”

This is AJ Link, known here as Łink. He's awesome. He's been permabanned for basically just making the CEO, Jay Graber, mad. This was a monumentally stupid decision that, AFAICT, may result in the collapse of Bluesky due to a loss of trust, but we'll see. The smart thing to do would be to #FreeŁink

I don't understand how Link can be exiled. He never hurt anyone, he helps crowdfund for our most vulnerable. He tries to help. He shared a snarky meme. We all do that. Singal Inc. has led to a lot of very vulnerable people getting hurt. He gets to slither on by.

For National Disability Employment Awareness Month at @motherjones.com, I spoke to four disabled federal workers who were laid off about how their old jobs were very accessible—and what the federal government loses out on by having fewer disabled employees. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
The human costs of Trump's war on government
For many disabled workers, federal jobs were decent, human, and accommodating: everything the president hates.

My pediatrician stopped doing COVID shots about two months before the government really announced anything. I ended up taking my daughter to a travel clinic and paying $150 out of pocket for her first shot.

I still don’t know if/when the second one in the initial series will even happen.

"Autistic people do not form a fixed spectrum with clear segments of 'high functioning' and 'low functioning' and 'profound.' Hope this helps." @ejwillingham.bsky.social on the autism grievance parent campaign for a #ProfoundAutism label, in today's TPGA Newsletter:

Do some tall people have "profound tallness?" (This is an autism labels side-eye)
You can’t take the tallness out of someone, not in any ethical way. “Tall” is just what they are.

New to the ever-growing RFK Jr. appointee grifter list: Mark Blaxill, now a senior advisor at the CDC. Blaxill has long benefited from riding the antivaccine gravy train, & has zero other relevant qualifications. From @ejwillingham.bsky.social in the TPGA newsletter:

On the echoes of refrigerator mothers in MAHA policy: Tiffany Hammond @fidgetsandfries.bsky.social "sees the focus on Tylenol and vaccines not only as a way to blame moms, but as a way to distract from Trump’s cuts to the services and supports families like hers need."

This isn't the first time moms have been blamed for their kids' autism
One of the earliest theories of autism is centered on “refrigerator mothers.” Echoes of it can be found in plans to Make America Healthy Again.
