This is a fascinating insight into the challenges of making some VFX shots including Star Wars, Star Trek and D&D.

Vanity Fair asked me to talk about visual effects, and it was my great honor to show off some of ILM’s terrific work over the years.

Yeah, same here. I thought that’s it, the series is tainted and it’ll never be the same. I enjoyed every flipping minute.

I had my doubts about a celebrity version but that worked really well. And Alan Carr is worth it just for the ensuing chaotic hilarity. #CelebrityTraitors

I've been informed that "The Fades" is back on iPlayer -
I absolutely LOVED this 6 part supernatural series when it was first shown in 2011, and if you've never seen it before, or haven't watched it in a while, I recommend it - especially during the spooky season! 👻

The reason the Right are so invested in the myth that the arts have no value isn’t because the arts don’t generate wealth (they do); it’s that studying the arts teaches people to imagine better ways of judging the value of an idea than by counting how much money it makes…

Yes. ‘Space Oddity' and 'Panic in Detroit' - both included on the RYKO edition of Scary Monsters. There’s also an update of 'Rebel Rebel’ that never surfaced afaik.

Takahashi’s inspired a catch up with favourite of mine, Zaine Griff. Zaine made some good albums in the 80s: ‘Ashes and Diamonds’ and ‘Figures’. He guest vocals on Takahashi’s ‘What, Me Worry?’ with Ronny on ‘This Strange Obsession’. Zaine made a new album in 2024 with Chris Payne! Will seek it out.

Just cleaned the living room out. This was accompanied by 1981’s Siouxsie and the Banshees comp ‘Once Upon A Time: The Singles’ and Yukihiro Takahashi’s ‘What, Me Worry?’, Yellow Magic Orchestra legend’s fourth solo disc from 1982 - some absolute synth pop bangers on that.

I have been out and mowed the lawn. The last haircut it’s getting until Spring 2026. It was not a pleasant affair. The grass and the ground was far too wet. But it’s done now.

How is this repeatedly made into a policy issue - by *all* parties - when the blunt fact of the matter is that grown adults who are obliged to pay for their own education, and relentlessly pursued to repay their loans, should be able to study whatever the fuck they want.

The 2024 Little Richard documentary, I Am Everything, is currently streaming on C4 in the UK. Ignore the usual talking heads who appear at the start as this is excellent. Particularly good on the "queer" subculture of the American South. youtu.be/4YC8WUrWtZY?...

Just to be clear, an English degree - learning to critically assess texts - is actually one of the most dangerous for people such as Badenoch.

An educated population, able to bring hundreds of years of context to statements in a dawning age of AI slop and attention-seeking dishonesty is also vital.

So, the plan is to cut English, the arts, and sociology - the degrees that actually study culture - while on another part of your platform claiming to “defend” British culture.

It’s performance nationalism with a reading age of seven.
Badenoch: Curb students taking 'rip-off' degrees such as English
The performing arts, sociology and anthropology are among the subjects the Conservatives would like to cut

Facts are simple and facts are straight
Facts are lazy and facts are late
Facts all come with points of view
Facts don't do what I want them to
Facts just twist the truth around
Facts are living turned inside out
Facts are getting the best of them
Facts are nothing on the face of things

ME/CFS is a devastating condition that has long been denied, dismissed, psychologised and underdiagnosed. Research is at last starting to catch up with it, with glimmers of hope for those who have been left untreated for so long.
