I assume you don't mean people who voted for Brexit.

Surely no one voting for Brexit did so assuming that leaving definitely meant the retention of FOM.

In which case, a majority of those who expressed a preference didn't expect that "social contract" to be maintained.

Ah, so you accept that EU citizenship was directly dependent on UK being a member of EU, and UK leaving automatically resulted in EU membership for UK citizens no longer existed.

EU law states that citizens of an EU member state are EU citizens.

UK stopped being an EU state by their own actions.

By automatic effect of law, the moment UK stopped being a member state, UK citizens were no longer EU citizens.

EU removed nothing.

No, your EU citizenship depended directly on your country being a member of the EU. When the UK government withdrew UK from EU, you automatically lost your EU citizenship.

Ever since his family's food rations stopped arriving at their internment camp in Myanmar in April, the father had watched helplessly as his once-vibrant baby boy weakened, suffering from diarrhea and begging for food.
On May 21, exactly two weeks after Taher's little boy died, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio sat before Congress and declared: "No one has died" because of his government's decision to gut its foreign aid program. Rubio also insisted: "No children are dying on my watch."
That, Taher says, "is a lie."
