I know BC NDs can prescribe a few types of things, but I don’t know if that’s only with extra accreditation. I haven’t been to an Ontario ND in years so I haven’t kept up. But I did just find this explanation from one ON ND:
Naturopathic Doctors who have completed the Ontario Prescribing and Therapeutics Exam are authorized to therapeutically prescribe certain medications and nutrients. I have completed these requirements and am authorized to therapeutically prescribe these medications. I am able to prescribe Bio-identical hormones known as BHRT. This includes topical and suppository forms of estrogen and natural progesterone. Supplementary hormones can be used to help ease peri-menopausal hormones fluctuations including hot flushes, mood swings and vaginal dryness. Progesterone can be prescribed when indicated to assist fertility, PMS, cycle related migraines, peri-menopausal symptoms and difficult menstrual cycles. As a Naturopathic Doctor, I am also able to recommend many other non-hormonal options that can be used to balance hormones. Naturopathic Doctors who have completed their prescribing exam are also able to prescribe certain thyroid medications including natural desiccated thyroid (NDT/ERFA). I couldn’t cover every angle - obviously there are many reasons a mask ban is unacceptable.
Requiring staff to get a doctor’s note to wear a mask is an asinine plan. How dare you even consider wasting the healthcare system’s time on this. How dare you further stigmatize people who would like to avoid the inconvenience of mild infections, and the extremely serious risks of covid. You need to educate yourselves about the innumerable risks of long covid *for everyone * and then ask yourself if you are providing a safe workplace rather than the current ludicrous track you’re on. What’s your average CO2 rating, are your stores & bathrooms adequately ventilated and filtered to ensure your staff and clients don’t get sick in the environment you are legally responsible for?
