Trump has no meaningful way to affect the election or the swearing-in of representatives even if he wanted to. Pretending he could cedes power to him and serves no purpose other than to make people feel hopeless.

He could not do either of those things.

I disagree that discussing training is helpful even as a rhetorical tool. All it does is further entrench ICE/CBP's legitimacy in the public consciousness; it makes the conversation about individual officers' actions (whether they conform to acceptable standards) rather than the underlying mission.

We should be applauding people who break rules to stop what's happening. Failing to break rules is what's worthy of critique right now. That's the stuff people should have an explanation for — and I know, some do, and that's fine, but the absolute moral minimum is supporting those who resist.

kind of darkly funny that "gender studies" is the stereotypical "useless degree" because gender studies will help you understand a large and important chunk of the current psychosis in american life
