For those of my friends who used to be on LiveJournal. I had always held the faint hope that it would return, but it looks like even that is gone now. I pre-mourned it already, but that doesn't make this news any less poignant. I am on Dreamwidth and have transferred all my posts on willowisp.
Okay, I will preface this with the GIGANTIC disclaimer that I promise I know how this looks, and I *swear* this is not personally motivated: If you have an old #LiveJournal account, and it has things you still care about in it, download it or import it to Dreamwidth SOON. Details:

When I was attending SUNY Oswego, the group en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fli... did concerts there several years in a row. One of those years I found out Aurelio Font and Cliff Townsend had never skipped rocks, so I taught them to... on Lake Ontario.

Zoë noticed that Andy and I had put presents under the tree and decided to add one of her own -- her favorite fishing pole/feather toy.

Many years ago (2009, in fact), I sponsored @jayfurr.bsky.social in a Susan Komen walk, and he sent me a bear who I named Susan (after a friend who sadly died from triple negative breast cancer not long thereafter). She disappeared for a while, then recently resurfaced with a burn on her bottom

We want the media and politicians to recognise that there is a large number of women who are supportive of the trans+ community. We call on them to report truthfully about the sources of violence against women and to address the systems that perpetuate harm. notinourname.org.uk/petition/not...

Due to @spacefolder.bsky.social's illness we were unable to go see the colors in Upstate NY this year, but the autumn finally caught up to us. Our across-the-street neighbor's tree is brilliant in this morning's sunlight.

I'm not sure whether or not to hope that Johnson will finally call the House back.

@spacefolder.bsky.social and I won't be voting today because we early-voted on Saturday. Any US citizen who is eligible to vote and hasn't done so yet, don't forget to vote today!

Don't forget to vote, wherever you are!

Albuquerque residents, here's a good voter's guide; it doesn't tell you who to vote for, it just aggregates replies from candidates to questions asked of everyone. It also gives information on early- and election day- voting.

I just called to cancel Disney+ (1-888-905-7888). There were line issues, but I've had the same problems with other phone calls, so it's not suspect. She knew I intended to cancel and had confirmed my account information when the call got disconnected. A few minutes later she called me back and

I feel this down to my inner core. Some days I just want to curl up and cry, and days when I don't are few and far between. It's even worse when someone you love is suffering and you can't just borrow some of their pain to give them a measure of relief.
I'm having a rough go of it lately, and have been thinking: everyone is going through something, and you have no idea what it is, or how it's affecting them.

Quote post this is if you're going through something, and maybe we'll all realize that we aren't as alone as we feel right now.

I'm with Victoria on this one, though to be fair I've not seen DS9. One of these years... maybe after I watch B5 again.

(Darth Vader has the best voice, though.)
She said Next Generation is her favorite. I let her know I’m more of a Deep Space Nine kind of fellow. She said she likes that one too. She adores Odo and Quark (truly, who doesn’t?) Wicket called into the room that he likes Darth Vader. Wicket. Really?

That could so easily be me. After my sister was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, they tested her for the BRCA mutations, and it turned out she and I both have one. I had a pre-emotive BSO and a double mastectomy, with neither reconstruction nor prosthetics for the latter. Even before that, as a
99% of the time, the people who end up getting barged in on by police and security guards with transgender bathroom bans are cisgender lesbian women.

Bathroom bans don't work because you can't tell whose trans by looks alone.

Anyway. Many such cases.

I was at Albuquerque's 4pm Mayday protest; I ran into a friend. I didn't do the march (my orthologist would have killed me), and I left when they began the march. If there were counter-protesters I didn't run into them, and the turnout was good. There were some good signs, but I didn't take photos.
