This isn't to detract from those groups who deserve equal visibility and representation, btw. I am just saying, as a Puerto Rican Jewish-American, it's hard to find myself represented at all, if ever. Very grateful for the Jewish book council and the prof who introduced me to it!

Every May, the library has displays to make AAPI visible. Same way that this month, I saw Native American books displayed, but not Puerto Rican authors. It sucks seeing how our library tries so hard (and I love them and work with them!) but limited resources means still falling flat.

I thought "hm, what a weird way to speak about your child." And then I realized it was not, in fact, a human child by the end 🤣

I think in online spaces you have to operate with the idea that *everyone* is acting in good faith until proven otherwise, *including and especially* academic ones. Particularly if you've already been made *very well aware* the student is autistic.

I also put it on for background noise while I read for class, because it's the only thing I can tune out well enough 😅
