Our own government has done extraordinary damage to the economic and social fabric of this region, wreaking havoc for no discernible reason. It’s a terror campaign, not an immigration operation. It’s still happening.

Yep; and the problem is deep because we have a generation of officers (at least in the Army) who lack both the staff coordination skills and the intellect to see the issues and fix them.

And yet, it must or the Republic and the democratic norm it represents is through.
Voters to some degree, and the two main political parties to a much larger degree are responsible.
There may be a clever way to thread the needle, but certainly don’t see anyone actually working on that.

It requires ACTUAL leadership by a cadre of senior officers who set and enforce standards.

Glad to see I wasn’t the only one questioning Scales’ intellectual honesty, though I was just a ‘cog in the machine’ when I first bumped up against his ideas (and him personally) on the early 200s. The mention of “Colgen” did cause a minor tic….

This article laid out a couple things: the politicization of efforts, carrying out mass actions in locales Rs lost, regardless the probability of actually undocumented immigrants; and the lack of fact checking by “journalists,” who take people at their word about where they’ve lived.
