There might be good data on diffusion of small molecules (including sugars) in alginate, carrageenans, and other polymers used for whole cell immobilization for biocatalysis.

Like it! There’s one that appears every year in the same spot - I think I posted this pic last year. I’m not a mycologist, but found fungi really interesting.

If you can, try to clean the stiff parts and remove any dry residues of grease before putting the new one.

I got this book as a present for my 14 b’day. Two years later, I had to burn it as it was in the list of book banned after the military coup in Argentina. I bought it again in ‘83 after the return to democracy. I gave it as a present for my daughter’s 14 b’day. I hope history doesn’t repeat.

What about using Current Contents to check the table of contents of journals and sending reprint request postcards? “Dear Colleague, I will appreciate receiving a reprint of your article:…..”. And the months-long wait until the reprint arrived to our remote lab somewhere in South America.

I thought it was a friendly invitation to show photos of mushrooms to a microbiology audience. Here’s one, near the Thames, in Oxford.

I’m frequently criticised for using “elucidate”, but as a non-native English speaker, I can’t find a satisfying alternative. I know clarify or illuminate could be, but those (to me) don’t transmit the same meaning. So, it’s elucidate for me!
