We are one of six land trusts in Alberta. We work with landowners to protect ecologically sensitive areas and wildlife corridors. We also host Citizen Science events like bird and butterfly counts. We live and work on Treaty 6 and Treaty 8 lands.
Beautiful!

Wolves, bears, wild horses, otters.

Now wolverines. There’s deep concern this may be more trophy hunting than population management as there’s declining numbers.

Bat colonies in buildings can be a challenge for building-owners. Pest/Wildlife Control Operators are often not familiar with bat-friendly approaches to managing bats in buildings. We have an online course (BETA version) available for training purposes. #Feedback #Free

We’ve begun winter bat monitoring with a conservation partner near Rosebud, AB. This Big Brown Bat recording from late February 2023 marked the coldest temperature when bats were active. We continue to monitor winter bat activity in search of important bat hibernation sites! #WinterBats

A little to the left, down a bit, up a fraction… Lima Lima is not to be rushed as she takes her turn at the ‘scratching post’. (Satisfying an itch and removing ticks all at once!) If you’ve not met Lima Lima, read her story at www.sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/orphans/lima...

Identifying historical wildlife corridors and then preserving them is essential to keeping Alberta’s environment healthy. We set up trail cams on potential conservation easement properties to help the landowner verify how active their land is.
