💅 Quick question (completely unrelated to something we're announcing soon):

What’s the most beautiful 𝝠 Expo app you’ve seen lately?

Almost three years since I helped ship the first VegaOS device on React Native. Awesome to see the progress—and to finally get it into other developers’ hands.

People of Illinois, we need your help.

Get your cell phones out – record what you see. Put it on social media. Peacefully ask for badge numbers and identification. Speak up for your neighbors.

We need to let the world know this is happening – and that we won’t stand for it.

TikTok’s US operations are changing hands and will be retraining the algo on US-only data. No word yet on whether a new app is needed.
Meanwhile, @skylight.social — the TikTok of the atmosphere — is seeing massive growth this week.

The last thing that’s bad is that there is just total chaos around implementation. Like I said before, certain and predictability are some of the most important things in a good policy. The haphazard way this admin has done this isn’t helping at all.
ccheever.com
The other thing that’s bad is that it explicitly lists out that the administration can just make exceptions unilaterally. This makes it feel like there won’t be a level playing field at all and only a sucker would pay this price. 4/x
ccheever.com
The Bad: First, $100,000 is too much money. For us it means we’ll just tell people from abroad to stay abroad. That’s efficient for us and means fewer tax dollars in America. More wealth flowing out of the country. $20-30 thousand is probably what most startups could stomach. 3/x
ccheever.com
I’d also rather just pay some money to the government than have to call in favors to write letters and pay lawyers a bunch of money to finagle the system to get an O-1 visa. It’s just more efficient. 2/x
ccheever.com
The announced policy re: H-1Bs is really good in one way and bad in 3 others. The thing that’s great is creating more certainty about getting a visa. It’s so hard to plan for the employer and employee when you have a 30-50% chance of getting it. Certainty and predictability are so so so good. 1/x

"I'm new to React Native / Expo Router - how should I structure my codebase?"
It's a question that comes up quite a bit, and this is an attempt at providing some very concrete suggestions.
Already using Router? I'd love to know if there's anything you'd do differently, and why 📝

My React Native app NerdWord is in alpha! 🚀

I built NerdWord as a portfolio project to show my skills — it's a nerdy twist on the classic word game, using RN, TypeScript, Expo, and Firebase:
