Um, should I point out that you misspelt "cinder", like the bauble-headed blithering knave of a mister you are? 😜
But much more importantly, it seems that while slur and insult are roughly synonymous, insult is slightly stronger and historically much more.
So I would never intentionally slur

This is so good to know too! It's definitely a slur here and can be a trauma trigger. Was it ever a slur in the UK?

I was thinking more to just start with the assumption that it's from a place of ignorance, but not really dive into intent. Instead, speak up that such expressions are unacceptable, while still affirming the person that expressed it.

Thank you so much for this! (My son didn't even think of my intended meaning, just grumpily asked why I put the slur in.😆 He is thoughtful though.) I'm considering a follow-up post on how to respectfully point out such things, whether they are accidental or not.

Don't even get me started on referencing sources in an age of misinformation, in addition to appropriate credit and more! I definitely celebrate those who do!!!
