FWIW Shanahan and McVay have become excellent head coaches and if they were to stop calling plays tomorrow they could still be excellent head coaches.

If in 2021 Kyle Shanahan took Micah and kept Jimmy G like he did anyway he may have a dynasty.

If he had spent more time thinking about the new playoff OT rules, he could at least have a SB.

Nick reportedly got involved in the offense right before the Chargers game. That was an offensive disaster, but it at least felt like they were challenging Hurts to attempt throws he doesn’t typically try.

FWIW, I think Nick is fine offensively. He set up a system that got Jalen Hurts to two SBs. The collapse in 2023 happened in large part bc he and Jalen weren’t on speaking terms. He probably should’ve been involved this year earlier.

And that is an overstated concern anyway. Howie doesn’t want the hottest coach on the market. He doesn’t want anyone who would ever dream about having a say in roster control. If they were to move on from Nick, they would probably promote Michael Clay. He knows most of the roster anyway.
