In celebration of #LGBTQHistoryMonth, we're thrilled to spotlight an incredible local trans man activist who has truly changed trans lives, beginning in California and expanding his impact nationwide and even internationally. We feel so fortunate to know and work in coalition with Dr. Jamison Green.

Born in 1948 in Oakland, California, he faced challenges from a young age as he sought to comprehend why others insisted he was a girl when he knew he was a boy. Throughout his childhood, he experimented with various names but ultimately chose Jamison at the age of 14, a name he has embraced ever since. Since 2017, he has made Washington State his home. Through Lou, Jamison met Steve Dain in March 1988, who played a pivotal role in mentoring him as he began his medical transition in October 1988. Following Lou's passing in 1991 due to complications from HIV, Jamison took over the support group. He led this Female-To-Male (FTM) support group, empowering others to make it their own and to assist fellow members in finding the information they needed to affirm their lives and identities. By 1994, the support group had incorporated and expanded internationally, and by 1998, FTM International, Inc. had become the world's largest and longest-running information network for FTM transsexual and transmasculine individuals. Happy #LGBTQHistoryMonth! Today, we shine a spotlight on the advocacy and leadership of Charlie Brydon, often regarded as the father of the LGBTQ civil rights movement in WA State. A businessman and organizer, he played a crucial role in the founding LGBTQ orgs and advancing LGBTQ rights in WA.
