View from about midfield and close to the pitch (nice seats!) at an Olimpico Ljubljana vs Bravo "Big Bang" match; hot Prva Liga action on a beautiful Slovenian evening. Olimpico has possession and is driving the ball into Bravo's goal end. A view of the Bravo goal net about 34 minutes into the match. The net is absolutely covered in what appears to be toilet paper thrown by the ultra Olimpico supporters from the stands behind it; the rolls gracefully unfurling as they arc softly over the net. The Bravo goalkeeper can barely be seen behind a curtain of white loo roll.

Lilium canadense (Canada lily), a tall stem with whorls of green leaves and three gracefully drooping six-petaled red and orange flowers, their petals curling upwards to show their speckled interior. Coreopsis verticillata (threadleaf coreopsis), a jauntily thick mound of feathery green leaves with soft yellow flowers sprinkled on top. Penstemon digitalis (foxglove beardtongue), tall stalks emerging from mounded leaf rosettes with sprays of white trumpet-shaped flowers. Coreopsis lanceolata (Lance leaf coreopsis), clusters of long lanceolate green leaves with jumbles of broad yellow flowers.

My native garden is riding out the heat wave so far!
A small backyard garden surrounded by a tan wood privacy fence, with a stone and gravel path winding through the center of several large beds of native Ohio plants, some of which are blooming or preparing to bloom. Liatris spicata (prairie blazing star), with stalks covered in small feathery purple flowers. Asclepias tuberosa (butterfly milkweed), with clusters of small brilliant orange flowers. Phlox divaricata (woodland phlox), with delicate five-petaled pink flowers peeking out from under a fern frond.

Today we were walking to the theater and I spotted an American Woodcock (Scolopax minor), also known as the timberdoodle, Labrador twister, night partridge, or bog sucker.
A plump little woodcock is chilling on a brick sidwealk near the base of a city building at the corner of Huron Rd E and Euclid Ave in downtown Cleveland. It's early evening moving into dusk and spring temps are in the low 50s(F), so this is a common time for them to be active. A zoomed-in photo of the previous image to show the woodcock in more detail. They have unique physical characteristics, including a plump, short-legged body with a short neck and a long narrow bill. Their coloring is soft cinnamon on their underparts and a faint grey collar around the neck. The top feathers are mottled dark brown/light brown/grey, providing excellent camouflage in their typical forest habitats.

Two adult cats are curled up next to each other on a soft furry blanket. One cat is a petite 7 pound black and white tuxedo cat and the other is a chubby 16 pound tabby cat. They are friends.
