I paid >$100 for a new drug, with really good insurance. Other people should be using this drug but don’t have insurance or it’s not as good as mine. It’s fucked up that we can send billions for weapons to a country that has universal healthcare and we have people dying and/or going bankrupt.

I probably should, but I don’t watch any right wing news or pay attention to right wing accounts, so I wonder how MAGA is spinning the pardon of a convicted drug trafficker while justifying the killing of people suspected of drug trafficking on the open sea.

Jw #Wicked. Holy shit. Read the book, saw the musical several times, but no big desire to see the film. It was amazing. The whole cast was great, and Cynthia Erivo was stunning. We watched the end sequence five times, it was so good. Ariana Grande was incredibly perfect as Galinda. 🎥

@wirefan51.bsky.social I signed up for a cheap 2 months of Britbox. Do you have it? If so, what should I watch first.

Watched #GoodBoy. Indy the pup is the film’s star, of course, nearly every scene is from his perspective. Cleverly shot, it’s tense and cryptic, has a few jump scares, and lots of people are talking about the ending. Still in awe of Indy’s performance and hope to see him in something again. 🎥

It is somehow both “this has been the longest year in recorded history” and also “how is it the middle of November already” right now

This really bothered me. I wrote an email to someone’s supervisor to express my appreciation for something they did. When I next saw the person, they were shocked and told me it was the first they had ever gotten. In 15 years. I later heard something similar from someone else.

Wtf.

Director Ryan Coogler’s genre-bending Sinners (2025) is a lush film, musically, visually, thematically. For some it will be spiritually intriguing. The main musical scene (it’s not a musical) made me wish I had seen the movie on the big screen. There are extra scenes mid- and after-credits. 5/5 🎥

Twin brothers in 1932 return to Mississippi from Chicago to set up a juke joint, running afoul of both human and mythical evil. I was 15 minutes into the movie before I realized that both brothers are played by Michael B Jordan. 😂 🎥

If you have it please donate cash to the food banks. $10 in their hands will feed more people than the $10 worth of canned goods you can buy for retail prices. Also check on your elders. Many of them will not admit they rely on these programs so grocery gift cards or a surprise bag of staples

The Accountant 2 absolutely does justice to the original. Having given up on a sequel, I got a double dose of satisfaction with the reunion of the 2 brothers 8 years later. The script is too stuffed, but Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal more than make up for it with their delightful buddy vibe. 🎥

If you/anyone you know have or will have food, housing, or other insecurities, a creator on IG posted help.org. It looks legit. All you have to do is enter a zip code.

Everyone else, please donate food or money to a local food bank. It’s going to get rough(er) for many people.

Just watched THE LOST BUS w/ Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera. Heavily fictionalized to add suspense, but it kept my interest. Both leads do a fine job. It was good enough that I borrowed the book it’s based on, Paradise: One Town’s Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire, from the library.

Diane Keaton. 😢

She was absolutely marvelous in many movies, but my favorite of hers will always be Baby Boom.

Watched Ballerina of the John Wick franchise. I enjoyed it. Lots of action, dark and gritty mood, fun fight choreography, John Wick shows up a couple of times. Ana de Armas did a credible job. I would rate it 4th in the series over John Wick 3.

Not a word, but St. Louis, even though founded and settled by the French, butchers all the French streets and municipalities. St. Francois, Chouteau, Gratiot, Creve Coeur, Gravois, Bellefontaine, You can tell an out-of-towner by how they try to pronounce them correctly.
What’s the word where you’re from that, when pronounced exactly as it looks, identifies a tourist immediately?
