I watched enough Northeast Louisiana tornado coverage that every time I see a news headline about Delhi, India, my brain goes straight to DELL-high first 😂

I always go with Natchitoches for these things, but since I'm not really from Louisiana, let's go with Arab, AL (the letter A + "rab")

Updating my CV -- typed "Birmingham, LA" and stared at it for a full minute before figuring out why it looked weird

there’s always one person in the family who looks at the Doppler radar

Man, I was in too much of a hurry to even check the price tag 😂

To be fair, I'm the one who decided to make a pit stop at a gas station in Cullman this morning 😂

The grey ratsnake was sitting absolutely frozen still on the trail at first. I thought he was dead 😂 Clearly I have never seen a ratsnake in its prime before.

(1) Other Serious Birders (honestly it was interesting to watch them)
(2) Nets set up by Alabama A&M University for research

I love them! They're more fun to watch than squirrels.

Birding/herping day trip up in Huntsville -- 20 bird species (including several migrants) and a herp I didn't even have to work to find. Ovenbird was cool to see. Also M&F American redstarts, though I think we're in the breeding range.

But mainly that's because that was how the textbook we used at ULM presented the evol unit! 🤷🏻‍♀️
cenewman0.bsky.social
I taught that in Evol class but not in intro bio. My intro lectures covered HWE, mechanisms of evol, evidence (a little history here), speciation, some basic tree thinking, genome evol, evo devo.

I know you can't tell but I've been smiling and nodding all morning at your posts here, along with similar posts on FB by another local friend and superfan. I love her but I don't regularly listen to music. But everyone's excitement is making me smile big today.

You be you, but also gotta protect your job. I've seen posts on here (not you!!) that are way outside of professional & appropriate, so I don't think "There's worse out here" can safely be our standard.

I'll never be able to unsee this

Maybe! I never tried that. Primarily it's phone app + website, but that would be great if you can hook up a scanner.
cenewman0.bsky.social
The time bottleneck was using my phone to scan in 150 answer sheets lol, but after a while you get into a rhythm. (I've heard some people go fancy and set up an apparatus to hold the phone for scanning)

I checked just now and it's still $7/year for unlimited answer sheets! There are different size answer sheets, you can upload multiple keys per test, and it gives you lots of class & question stats.

I paid for pro version to handle large classes, but at the time I think it was like $7/year

It's been a few years now but I used Zipgrade and loved it
