Today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
It's the 81st anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.
The Holocaust was the murder of 11-12 million Jews, LGBTQ+, Roma, Poles, political prisoners, disabled people, and others by the Nazis.

This is a November 20, 1938 page from the NY Times reporting quite graphically on Kristallnacht (the Night of Broken Glass), which was a major upshift in the ongoing harassment of Jews in Germany.
These photos are from the Auschwitz exhibit currently at the Cincinnati Museum Center.

Here's a May 1945 page from Life magazine on the atrocities at Auschwitz. While the story quotes US politicians, I doubt the editors at Life waited to get permission from the US administration itself to publish these stories.

Just got out of a special sneak preview of the new #TronAres movie and I have to say, wow! That was fun. Deserves seeing it on a really big screen. Jared Leto didn't ruin it, which I was worried about. Special effects were 🔥

Hey, lawyers: Is it still a 1A violation if it's the Executive Branch trampling on individual speech rights (e.g., in the form of FCC actions) instead of Congress, which is the only branch of the government mentioned there.

Those who are ignorant of history fail to see the warning signs that we're making the same kinds of decisions that empowered the same kinds of people who led the world to the brink of destruction and caused immense death and suffering 90 years ago.
