No problem, thats something that makes these CPUs very valuable in these kind of older boards (if the voltage is supported)

If you have a cpu with on-board L2 the cachable limit of the board doesn’t apply. The tag inside the CPU has enough for 4GB.

And MS allowed 85C as maximum.

Both consoles had the problem, but the Xbox had it more egregiously simply due to different max temps under load

Oh for real, the reason PS3s weren’t dying as much was just because the main fan curve kept the system cooler internally. The CELL isnt allowed to get hotter than 77C and the fan curve is modeled after that. The RSX is the colder of the two, so you can imagine how that worked since the fan is shared

Oh god, deinterlacing and scaling from the monitor. It can look far better with a proper scaler.

(PS2 looking so ass was my original reason to get a proper scaler)
December 21, 2025 at 3:27 PM
I would make you some videos, but YT compression is hell for PS1 games at original resolution
December 18, 2025 at 2:06 PM
Also the PSVita still runs PS1 games inside their PSP emulation iirc. So you get double emulation, which of course isnt great
December 18, 2025 at 2:04 PM
You mean on a PS Vita itself? Or on a PSTV hooked up to a normal TV?
December 18, 2025 at 2:03 PM
Yeah, its very very compatible. And in case you find an issue, the PS3 ships with 3 different PS1 emulators you can toggle through on a CFW or manually assign to a certain image.

You are limited to the original graphics though. No internal resolution upgrade, just like it would be on a real PS1
December 18, 2025 at 1:59 PM
All slims up to CECH21XX are able to have a CFW, where you can just dump bin/cue or VCD files of PS1 games onto the HDD and then play them
December 18, 2025 at 1:20 PM
Oh all models play PS1 games (from disc) and if modded from hdd too
December 18, 2025 at 1:19 PM
Ah hell, Ukraine is really that expensive huh?
December 18, 2025 at 12:52 PM
I know you asked for a real PS1 but you could use any CFW PS3 as well
