About 18 years ago, back when I actually did illustration work, I was drawing and writing 'Prof. Beasly's Beastly Beastiary' as a kid's book pitch. There's been a billion titles like this since then, but maybe one day I'll get back into it (did all this on an old Intuos + Photoshop).

#illustrations
Gorgon. Basilisk. Kraken. Harpy.

A tiny, rural township here in Ohio is currently pushing back on the city council allowing a data center to be built. The community did the numbers and realized the revenue/small increase in jobs will do nothing to offset losing the land/nature trails that tourists visit them for.

One other bit of encouragement: a good friend of my is a proud Republican who is a city council member here in Ohio. However he *hates* Trump and has refused to vote for him. As I follow his Facebook feed, I've seen many of his Republican friends/business owners admit to buyer's remorse on Trump.

It's easy to doom-scroll the news and accept how everything is getting horrible, but we're also a culture of not wanting to admit one made a mistake. There's a huge chance this midterms that people who once openly supported Trump may quietly not vote or (unlikely enough) cast a ballot for Democrats.

The stupider it gets, the more obvious it is to everyone that the current status quo is a problem.

I say this as someone in a rural area of Ohio where people used to display massive Trump banners in their yards. Post Epstein denial over the summer all but 2 were taken down within a week.

Adult Swim uploaded the first season's opener on Youtube last night and I adore the series. Like I mentioned in my post about it, there's a level of earnestness in the characters that I appreciate. Of course there is still traditional Adult Swim oddness, but the conversations feel very real.

That's my grandmother in a nutshell. We can't tell if it's just because she's old (in her early 80's so probably) but she makes up things and now that is reality to her.

"Obama's doctor said he has cancer and only 2 months to live."

"Donald Trump is giving Republican voters $9,000 checks."

If you’re a guy over the age of 30 and saying, ‘this is a game only for *boys*’ then you sound like a super dweeb. That’s how 8 year-olds argue. Go be a man.

Oh goodness! Adult Swim released the premiere of ‘Haha, You Clowns’ early. I don’t know why, but I’m obsessed with content that, while obviously bizarre, is extremely earnest and vulnerable in presentation. A real heckuva job raising those boys.

The strength of Bob Ross’ skills is that upon looking at one of his works, a dummy would think, ‘I can absolutely do this no problem.’

Then you try to imitate what Ross did and you realize, ‘Oh shit. This guy had the innate knowledge to build a perfect landscape from memory in a half hour session.’

Let’s play a game called, ‘How bad can this really taste?’

I sometimes forget I've made a lot of stupid things over the years like placing TV's Barney on 1994's 'Without a Sound' by Dinosaur Jr.
Me stupidly placing Barney on Dinosaur Jr.'s 1994 album, 'Without a Sound.' The original cover for 'Without a Sound' by Dinosaur Jr.

My Sheetz always has one dude on his laptop either watching anime or playing League of Legends on it. Godspeed on trying to manage accomplishing anything in-game with, what I imagine to be, horrendous latency.

I'm fully-embracing my autumn sweater season. It's the one time of year I'm not just wearing stupid band/design tees and actually dressing my age.

It’s kind of a bummer it took *everything* going on currently to get people more attuned to national politics, but at least it’s some forward progress. Definitely seeing the same result here in Ohio. Many becoming aware of huge tax increases due to decades of state Republican mismanagement.

It’s wild because I had no problem tossing $5 a month over to Bluesky as long as they continued building out new features and forming a solid community. But apparently we’re speedrunning the ‘we bought Tumblr and it’s super successful but not in the way we want it so let’s kill it’ business plan.

I always follow up with, ‘dude, I don’t even care.’ Slightly more professional but your approach gets to the point sooner.

No one else can pull off the concept of something as silly as ‘bird blindness’ with utter sincerity as Meadows does in Peacemaker.

Caught this 10 minutes ago on Reddit and it’s wild. I feel there’s now a small subset of failing companies whose entire business plan moving forward is to suck up to the Trump administration and pray they garner the limited attention span of the RW grievance scene as a financial hail mary.

I feel like the right influencer scene is speedrunning the ‘everything is offensive and bad and needs to be cancelled and wait why is our audience now ignoring us?’ that, admittedly, some of the more obnoxious folks on the left did in the 2010’s. Just like JNCO jeans everything eventually returns.

I feel like all social media platforms will have insane people in replies. However, in the case of twitter, people posting those batshit replies are doing so for business engagement reasons.

I'll take the crazy reply people on Bluesky. At least they're insane organically instead of for business.
