Brian C. Veteran Bookseller

Bookseller (British, bearded, bespectacled, bald). Fantasy-fan. Sci-Fi guy. Word-nerd. He/Him.
On a mission to read all the middle-grade science fiction books.
That's an appointment you start, but never get to finish.

"Colin Firth coming out of the water" like Triton rising from the waves is a classic example of the Mandela effect.

The scene actually just cuts to him walking home across a field in a slightly damp shirt.

The Lorax would be assumed to be British in the Asterix books, because of the -ax suffix. 🤔

"Suffix" is itself a perfectly good Gaulish name for that matter.

In one of (British sci-fi author) Peter F. Hamilton's trilogies, the first thing a spaceship did after completing a hyperspace-type jump was deploy huge radiator fins to dump excess heat.

This is actually a paraphrase by Ursula K Le Guin, not an original quote by Tolkien, as explained here:

My collection (nearly forgot Fury Road). There's a lot of blu rays I ought to upgrade though.

...I'm not proud of the DCEU wall ok, but I'd already started before Suicide Squad came out and I'm a completionist. 🤷‍♂️

I'm just glad Excalibur got announced in time! (pre-ordered already).

I imagine (based on no evidence) that he coined the name Celeborn in Sindarin first, and Teleporno is just the unavoidable result of the language rules he'd laid down. 🤔

Someone pointed out (in relation to Iron Widow I think) that most "love triangles" actually aren't, because a triangle is joined on all *three* sides.

They're mostly Love V's. 😄
