I love Costco but it’s not a true substitute. Completely different kind of merchandise and shopping experience.

Do you have Meijer in WI? I don’t know whether the company is politically active but I’m always impressed with their competitive pricing and selection. I didn’t grow up with Meijer so I always forget it exists, but every time I’m there, I’m like “This is nice. I need to come here more.”

I’m still not shopping at Target!

lol. I feel like no matter how long I live here I will still not know how to drive in the snow, but many of these other drivers should know better. 😅

Now is a very good time to be good to each other. In part because you never know what anyone is going through, but also because you know that all of us have already been through so much.

So I made my own village of friends plus I seek help from experts. We’re making it work despite it all. And my heart breaks to think that my children may be worse off in life than I was/am. But goddammit, I’m giving them a happy childhood and I’m proud of that.

But it’s incredibly hard. We have zero help from family other than occasional money and gifts. I left the full-time workforce to stay at home with my children. I’m exhausted and burned out.

It helps that I’m educated, white and middle class for sure though. We can walk to our safe neighborhood school, we go on trips to fun places, we have a yard where the kids can explore and play. We take them sledding in winter or to the pool in summer. They get to touch grass.

There are a couple of consignment stores where I live that have dedicated plus size sections. Considering how high prices are at Goodwill these days there isn’t much of a price difference between thrift and consignment.
