You don’t have to like AI at all. In fact, i personally don’t have an opinion about the technology. I try not to assign neutral things that can be used for all sorts of purposes, like technology, a moral valence.

Instead, I look at *how things are used by people.*

I understand the pressures she may be under, and it’s important to name them because Jay Graber leaving wouldn’t solve them.

We’d see the same cycle of actions on the site from nearly anyone even remotely as engaged as Jay was.

That does NOT make them acceptable.

I also believe far more detailed information regarding moderation decisions needs to be provided to users affected by them so they can specifically understand exactly what in a post or a labeler is violating the policies and be given an opportunity to self-correct prior to banning.

At minimum, a public apology needs to be made for her behavior.

She should also be required to go through extensive comms training.

I am naming the systems that may exist that are creating pressure. One can understand why something may be happening without condoning it.

For example, I understand *why* people join ICE, but I sure as fuck don’t condone or agree with it.
