There's a holy trinity of big no-nos on YouTube that get you banned for "Spam and Deceptive Practices": reuploading the exact same video multiple times, tag stuffing, and now not disclosing AI-generated videos (and getting caught). Any of these are a one-way ticket to a deleted channel.

Ironically on my youtube channel I got *too* niche and I just wanna play whatever I'm feeling which is a good way to play whatever's trendy. Also I've seen that apparently the big thing for twitch growth is clip farming on... YouTube??? that's a little ironic.

Ooh nice! I'm in the same boat about streaming right now but i think that changes to how I do things on the channel is gonna open me up for more streaming time next year.

Well yeah, we badgered YouTube about it so much they eventually spilled the beans on the ad-blocker thing despite that being detrimental to their war on ad blockers just to clear the air and maintain a modicum of trust. This is why it's very, very important to follow up on things you hear about.

AI probably has something to do with it among any things but the age restriction thing ended up being a red herring. There was a an issue where YouTube's anti-adblocker was causing views not be be counted which was mistakenly attributed to that. Also this has been going on longer than August.

This is also why you might have seen a lot of your favorite YouTubers, yours truly included, break into streaming recently to look for any way to even things out. Twitch has it's own problems though, one of them ironically being creator discover is highly reliant on traffic driven from YouTube.

Like if you're wondering why so many of us jumped on that whole age-restriction thing a couple months back, a big part of that is that so many of us are working so hard to keep up and we know *something* is going wrong under the hood and are desperate for any sort of answer.

Like I was really feeling bad about how poorly a lot of indieween did and I still take responsibility for how I tried to do too much too fast last month, but it takes the sting away just a little to find out that "oh, everyone's been having all their recent videos tank."

2/2 The job market in SoCal law was intense enough without suddenly having 0 reputable references, having to strike off my internship, and also just not having the cash to afford interviewing clothes or take time off my wage job. Then the pandemic hit and my YouTube channel blew up.
