The elementary school in our neighborhood has been getting a playground remodel. New equipment, new surfaces, and even overhead sun protection. Today we heard the team installing squeaks on the swings.

Incredibly thorough work. 😀👍🏽

Art in the park. I snapped this photo from far away because artists need their space. 😎

There’s someone set up in the park with four easels and four little girls and they’re painting.

Recent rains have flooded the grassy field at the grammar school. The geese and ducks worked the day shift. Now, a chorus of frogs serenades us.

It’s been an interesting start to 2026. After a yummy home-cooked brunch we discovered a small pool under the sink😧. Guess we shoulda lit those firecrackers in the house to scare off the evil spirits. Oh well… next year for sure. 😂

NYE cupcakes: outside, a sunny sunflower decorates each treat. Inside: banana, chocolate chips and walnuts.

A very young man asked me if I had plans for New Year’s Eve. I told him that when I was 19 I’d slept on the sidewalk on Colorado Blvd to get a good spot for the Rose Parade, and while it was fun, I no longer sleep on concrete for NYE.

A few months after I’d pranked My Sweetie with the Iocaine Powder spice jar, I announced: Our relationship has reached the point where we can watch “What’s Up, Doc?”
He’d never seen it.

We’re still laughing together.

My big brother doesn’t do emails.
In my Christmas card to him I jokingly teased that the recent king tides woulda messed with his surfing (he’s not a surfer). Then I left the card out for my daughter to sign. She made the whole thing pop.

My daughter and I are working on a webtoon project. Her idea and drawings, my dialogue, shared plot line. We’re in Act Two territory and tonight, with a huge smile she said, “I’ll always have this incredible thing we did together, forever. Just me and my mom.”
Giving thanks for this amazing human.

Had kind of a distracted day. On the drive to meet with my writers group, all the dash lights on the car lit up. 😳 Brief stop at the mechanic led to an appointment for tomorrow. But I still got to meet with my friends and get feedback on a graphic novel I’m writing with my daughter. 🏆

I’ve had a glass of wine and am now unable to figure out why, when I upload photos from iPhone to Mac (intentionally avoiding Apple Photo), the location data does not come along with the photo. Is entering the neighborhood/city/country/ by hand my only option? Yeesh. #photograpy #metadata #iphone

The hummingbird has been entertaining us this morning. S/He perches in our patio alcove, facing AWAY from the outside world. But when another hummingbird approaches (from behind, mind you) the feeders are immediately defended by this feisty Sky Chihuahua.
