Today’s piece of cardboard is reasonably identifiable as a bookmark! Featuring a memorable quote from, as best I can tell, Tmomas A Bunch of Squares
Charles’s unremarkable white hand holding a low-quality bookmark, dark green in colour, with AI-sloppy images of a mug, a stack of books with rays of light coming from behind them, and an open book partially cut off at the edge of the bookmark. There is a quote in multiple fonts, reading “everywhere I have sought peace and not found it, except in a corner with a book”, attributed to someone whose name appears to be Tmomas A something, with the surname obscured as a bunch of squares in typical AI sop fashion. In the background, the rest of the wretched calendar looms ominously.

Finally, we know what every word on one of these things says! Once again, however, this item for book lovers is a small piece of cardboard
A small, maroon piece of cardboard, with white text reading “saving all my pennies for books”, and golden line drawings of coins, some of which are marked 25 or 50. Once again, the entire thing has the sheen of low-budget AI, with a blur to the images and writing that makes it feel like you’re looking at them with Vaseline in your brain. There’s also a non-uniform, corner-cutting white dotted line around the edges for some reason. Description ends.

DAY TWO

From the product description we think this was supposed to be a pin badge. It has no pin, and is in fact a SMALL RESIN CIRCLE
A small, dark blue resin circle, with text that is probably intended to read “all I want for Christmas is books”, but is so badly distorted by its AI rendering that it looks more like “all I iuant for chainmail us books”. The resin circle rests on the overlapping mess of pouches inside the accursed advent calendar, with other wretched AI-drenched images of books, lamps and cookies visible. Description ends.

And without further ado, here's your day 1 treat: a small piece of cardboard, with a picture of a mug, a kind-of-depressing Margaret Attwood quote, and an utterly illegible attribution that might be the biggest "we used shit AI for this" tell I've ever seen. 'tis the season!

This is only *kind of* a prize, in that it's a purchase she made with a voucher that she won. It's still relevant context, because she would never have made a purchase this frivolous, and boy oh boy has that attitude been vindicated.

Behold, the Book Lover's Advent Calendar!
The front of the Book Lover's Advent Calendar, an image of a living room which is awash with AI artefacts, including a snowglobe containing an image that might be a bust of Poe with the hair accidentally magic-erasered off, I think. Text reads "25 bookish gifts for readers, with bookmarks, ornaments, greeting cards, and more!" Description ends. The interior of the calendar, with 25 pouches all featuring more AI slop images. Some of them are Christmas-related, with sweaters, candy canes, presents etc., some are book-related, with things that are fairly close to pictures of books, and one is just a cat for some reason. The flaps on the pouches are visibly not closed, and a couple of them have contents poking out the top. It's messily-arranged and has a visible crease in the central spine.
