✍🏼 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥

Our council missed out under Tories, causing public services pressure.

I’m glad Labour’s changing how councils are funded.

My letter to Local Gov Minister urging consideration:

🤝 Georgia also met with local mum Christine Lote. Christine has been diagnosed with incurable Stage 4 cancer & her child has been allocated a school place further from home, impacting them daily.

I'm supporting Christine's call to see admissions policies factor in medical need.

💷 Making the most of Georgia's visit, she kindly also met with South Glos Council Co-Leader Ian Boulton and me to discuss the impact of South Glos being at the bottom of the league table for funding per pupil head in England, via the funding formula inherited from previous govt

🏫 Such a useful day yesterday, with Schools Minister Georgia Gould visiting Blackhorse Primary School.

We saw best practice delivered by the team to support children with SEND needs, to help inform reforms.

Thank you to the team at Blackhorse Primary School and The Leaf Trust for welcoming us.

✨🎄 We’re very lucky to have generous & creative residents like Ricky & Chrissie Fenning.

‘Winterbourne Wonderland’ is always a special community display - and they’ve exceeded themselves!

Glad to be able to see and thank Ricky when I visited. They raise thousands for charity.

📣 This week has been #UKParliamentWeek

On Friday, I joined Callicroft Primary Academy in Patchway for an assembly with KS2 to talk about Parliament & answer their questions. So many hands shot up, I was so impressed!

Thank you to Headteacher Jonathan Keohane & the whole team.

🎄Always love the Christmas tree lights switch on by the Horseshoe in Downend - lovely event with a Salvation Army band, mulled wine from the pub & great crowd.

Thank you to Matt Pitts (who scaled the tree & more to make it happen!), the Parish Council, band, pub & all involved!

🏫 Great to be back at SGS College Filton to meet new Principal David Withey & local learners.

With great facilities for learning trades & a focus on English & Maths, SGS has lots to offer.

Good to discuss Labour’s goal to see 2/3 young people in uni, FE or apprenticeships.

☕️ Thanks all who joined ‘Coffee with Claire’ at Stoke Gifford Retirement Village today!

Useful conversations about what residents love about Stoke Park & Cheswick Village, from green spaces to bus links.

Top issues chosen included a lack of community spaces & issues with some HMOs.

🎅 Loved the Chrismas lights switch on tonight at the Willow Brook Centre in Bradley Stoke!

Thanks to the team at the centre for putting this on, and Bradley Stoke Radio for the festive tunes.

Great to be here with Mayor of Bradley Stoke Natalie Field and to see lots of others here!

All regulated fares frozen next year - inc season tickets, peak returns for commuters & off-peak returns between major English cities.

🚧 Yesterday, I met with Vistry in Charlton Hayes to follow up on residents’ concerns about unfinished areas of work.

They have confirmed to me that they are working through these final 3 areas and expect to complete these by late spring.

I will continue to stay close to this.

Residents may have heard reports of a stabbing outside McDonald’s in Filton yesterday.

I’ve been in contact with the police. Thankfully, the injuries of the person who went to hospital are not thought to be life-threatening.

This incident is unacceptable. Please call 101 with any information.

Today, we said farewell to Mum.

After days of torrential rain and grey, Mum’s favourite song - ELO’s ‘Mr. Blue Sky’ - felt apt.

We’ll always miss Mum, but she lives on in us, and will remain such an important part of our lives. Death doesn’t change that, it clarifies it 🤍

An honour to take part in Patchway’s Remembrance Parade and Service today.

Patchway’s poignant event falls this weekend so more people can attend, not least RBL Patchway, Stoke Gifford & District Branch.

We paused to remember those who lost their lives fighting for our country, peace and freedoms.

💼 Great to meet the Horfield JobCentre Plus team.

Their tailored approach supports significantly more people into work than the national average.

Good to hear youth support expansion plans, following Labour investing:

📍£25m to double Youth Hubs
🤝 £90m in Youth Guarantee pilots inc our region

💬 Today, I held my advice surgery in Charlton Hayes, at Aerospace Bristol.

Local people raised a range of issues they’ve experienced, many of which happened to centre around equality and fairness.

🤝 Welcome to Parliament, Patchway Community School! Super to help this brilliant group to take a tour and meet up to hear their questions and ideas.

Glad to hear them say that they now feel more like they could see themselves here in future.

Thanks to them, the teachers and parents.

A privilege to be invited to join the remembrance service at MOD Abbey Wood in Filton, led by Chaplain Padre Matthew Stevens.

Honoured to lay a wreath alongside DE&S Interim CEO Lt Gen Simon Hamilton, representatives of our forces and support organisations.

We will remember them.

As the MP for Bristol Parkway, it was an honour to present a wreath today on our community’s behalf for #PoppiesToPaddington.

This powerful initiative sees wreaths from communities on GWR’s lines sent to the war memorial in Paddington.

Thanks, John, for taking care of ours.
