Yes: but Trump's demand was:
A. A pretext to renege on NATO -as evidenced by the fact that each time he demanded greater spending -beyond NATO %, beyond US spending etc.
B. Europe buys US weapons only -which he boasted about supplying obsolete versions & threatened withholding parts & software

who drive less hard bargains, so that they can go to the next country with higher benchmarks than otherwise

Not entirely accurate: the French state, like pretty much every state outside the US, has a health insurance system- which is able to bulk purchase medicines. Because they are big customers, they are able to negotiate very large discounts. Drug companies have a list of countries they go to first

Unemployment affects a few (& me losing my job is a counterfactual anyway).
Inflation affects all.

My wage increases are because of my own skill.
Inflation in prices is because of government failure - etc.

Certainly if it were true that entry level young white men were being severely excluded in order to compensate for having a bunch of old white guys running the place, those guys would have a cause of complaint - & perhaps even legal cases?
December 19, 2025 at 3:20 PM
I understand the complaint is not that there are a bunch of white "boomers" in positions of power, the complaint (whether true or not) is that in the last c. 10 years, young white men were being excluded.

It's hardly a benefit for a 20 year old to know that 50-70 year olds are doing well.

It was contemporaneously reported in the guardian, independent, Times, BBC etc. - & by the main leave campaigns.

If you were in Spain at the time, perhaps you weren't aware of what the British electorate voted on?

Brexiteers campaigned on ending freedom of movement -& that was the most important point agreed in relation to every Brexit position taken by the UK government subsequently -& endorsed by the British electorate

Why shouldn't there have been any changes for affected citizens - when changing everything for affected citizens is what was voted on & repeatedly approved by the UK electorate?

Yeah, kinda prescient! "Not only a hugely successful director - he was also an astute observer of geo politics".
I'm failing to see the insult here?

Correct. And Donetsk/Luhansk will be left in ruins as Russia has neither the money to pay for it, nor the need - & the ruins serve as a warning to others.

Those damn pagans with their pagan rituals have destroyed the true meaning of Christmas- just look at that tree!
