people don't talk enough about this side of the issue? I don't have kids but at a previous job I coordinated the school safety patrol program and it becomes pretty clear, pretty quickly my parents are dropping their kids off at school.

I used to coordinate the school safety patrol program. This conversation came up sometimes.
In one case we went to a conference in Toronto where this was a topic of discussion.
The approach to the problem never seem to address the fact that parents don't have alternatives.

This is one of the most out of touch gripes too.
It's illegal for kids under 12 to be left alone and childcare isn't easy to find.
