It CAN be purchased. Pricey. Probably made *from* benzyl chloroformate. My company (Sigma Aldrich) used to sell it, it seems, but doesn't now.

Benzyl chloroformate is not trivial to come by. Been waiting on an order from Acros. Does anyone know 1. where to get it from fairly quickly and/or 2. alternatives to benzyl chloroformate for making Cbz-protected amines. (Yes it needs to be Cbz protected.) #chemsky 🧪

Interesting. I make Boc-protected amino acids sometimes, so a little similar. I'll have to remember Et2O/heptane as a potential mobile phase.
