A friend wished me a "Happy Veteran's Day" (in good faith) and it's such an awkward phrase. I'm not ashamed of my service by any means, but it feels weird that there's seemingly no better way to verbally express gratitude for people who served.
(Also, what's with me posting here only once a year??)

As a veteran, today is a little bittersweet. I spent a good 90 minutes catching up with an old friend. Most of my army friends I don't have contact with anymore. I miss the comradery.
