MURC'S LAW Journalists who blame Democrats for situations brought about by Republican behavior are following Murc's Law. Murc's Law is “the widespread assumption that only Democrats have any agency or causal influence over American politics."* These journalists seem to believe (perhaps unconsciously) that Republicans have so little control over their own behavior that they cannot be held accountable for their own actions.
