kristi said she wanted her fuck plane and no one at DHS has a backbone, the end
i would like to read a deeply-reported, 10,000-word investigative piece about the procurement process that ends up sourcing a luxury 737 for the head of DHS which only seats 17 people
The interior of Kristi Noem’s new billionaire-class luxury jet is complete with two bidets and a wet bar with a wine chiller. It will be purchased on our dime from the slush fund Congress approved in the One Big Beautiful Bill.

I’d love to get every single Democrat on board with “abolish ICE and dismantle DHS” but you’re going to need some votes from folks who don’t want to embrace that particular rhetoric and good news “there’s just too much corruption we’ve got to dismantle it to solve the problem” is sitting right there
gotta do investigations into DHS “waste, fraud and abuse” as pretext for killing the agency

I'm sorry, but this is obfuscation. The reality is simple.

Trump and his adherents are fascist white supremacists aiming to destroy every good thing in America.

If you look at a choice between them and a Democrat - any Democrat - and go "eh, not left enough, I'll pass" you are a child and a fool.
I've seen a bunch of this online, mostly from people less credible than Stancil. I've been a union organizer for almost 30 years and worked on every election in that time period. (I also voted for Harris and protested the genocide.) Posts like this fail to grasp 3 universal truths about elections.
The reason people are concerned about lefties saying “I won’t vote for a moderate Dem” isn’t because they want Newsom. It’s because lefties keep not voting for moderate Dems!

I think all the scolding about it being years til the primary would hit a little harder if WE DIDN’T JUST GO THROUGH THIS

any other option - voting republican, not voting, voting third party - is completely and totally morally unacceptable and should result in your expulsion from polite society

The drunk uncle theory.

You don’t argue with the casually homophobic uncle at Thanksgiving dinner to change his mind; you argue so that the closeted cousin at the kids table knows there’s safe people and better possibilities out there
agree with this (hah) but also think a particular mistake the left made for a long time online, and still makes to an extent, is failing to understand that the person whose mind you may actually change is the one reading the argument you're having, not the one you're arguing with
The secret to engaging in social media debate is knowing you will never win anyone over. The best you can hope for is to have people who already agree with tell you you're awesome. You might great a dopamine thrill from the righteousness of your anger! Fine benefits, all. But you will never win.

You! What basic knowledge should people need to participate in political conversations on social media. For US politics:

1. Current and previous presidents and vice presidents
2. Which party controls each chamber of Congress
3. Which party appointed the majority of Supreme Court
4. ???
Now I’m wondering what basic questions people on social media should have to answer correctly to participate in the discourse. Much higher bar!

You are one member of a larger coalition. That coalition has a process through which it decides who will lead it. “If you don’t decide to support my guy, I will leave the coalition” is behavior that will destroy the coalition, weaken yourself, and ultimately lead to worse outcomes than participating
Hey maybe the dems should learn a lesson and not run "moderate" Dems who are actually just republicans

I understand framing the AI bubble RAM supply crisis in terms of stuff like video game consoles because nerds can conceptualize that but the framing does really undersell the sheer magnitude of how it's going to fuck up everything that even touches a computer.

My three main issues:
- Neither man has heard of the Fourth Amendment.
- Sanchez did not explain that administrative warrants do not involve a judge.
- Sanchez did not explain and Alford ignored that this was a change secretly implemented by DHS in this administration.
Rep. Mark Alford: "If you tie a judicial warrant to what ICE is doing, it will never happen"

ICE detentions continue despite federal judges ruling 4,400+ times that they were unlawful. Judge Thomas Johnston writes, “It is appalling that the Government insists that this Court should redefine or completely disregard the current law as it is clearly written.”

Courts have ruled 4,400 times that ICE jailed people illegally. It hasn’t stopped.
The decisions amount to a huge legal rebuke, one the administration has ignored.
