THIS is IT.

Community wins.
Minneapolis and Saint Paul have basically mobilized into a war economy of mutual aid and non-violent defense. I’ve never seen anything like it, even during Covid. People who barely vote are guarding their schools from ICE and doing the shopping for neighbors in hiding.
This is so smart. I’m so impressed with all the different ways you’re helping your neighbors.

This week was too much and I crashed and got sick. We had an amazing 2-day strike of 4 unions in Solano county. Processing the sadness and rage of CCA closing predictably.

This was not a surprise. In 2022 negotiations, after SFAI, Mills and Notre Dame de Namur had all announced closures, we saw that CCA was doing the same shit. We told them then that they were 5 years away from closing. Welp. It's hard to always be right.

Blaming declining enrollment is a deflection.

Even with barely any prominent Democrats calling for the abolition of ICE, it's polling roughly even with don't abolish ICE. Now imagine if the Democrats actually embraced abolition and tried to proactively shape public opinion.

At a church in Minneapolis that is hosting an anti-ICE singing vigil, which will later process through the neighborhood.

They sing: “This is for our neighbors who are locked inside, together we will abolish ICE.”

ICE apparently lacks capacity to oppress more than one city at a time.

This is performative authoritarianism.

performative authoritarianism that has killed people, yes. It’s not a joke.

But it is also incapable of any sort of meaningful authoritarian consolidation.

They lack the numbers to win.

Absolutely horrific details about an ICE shooting in Minneapolis.

A witness says a woman was trying to drive away from an ICE operation and the ICE agent "reached across the hood of the car and shot her in the face like three, four times."

Bovino was there.

It’s not remotely important but what do we make of his frequent “thank you for your attention to this matter”? It’s such a weird thing to add to all his other foolishness.
If Trump is really stealing spending power from Congress then it would be insanity for Democrats to vote to fund the government later this month. Shut it down until the president stops wiping his ass with the Constitution.

Authoritarianism is here. It’s been here since inauguration. It’s not a surprise. People have been sounding the alarm about threat since the Patriot Act.

The same Democrats that ignored the warnings and failed to prevent authoritarianism are not gonna be the ones to figure out how to stop it.
