Created in 2019, this program aims at keeping CTA’s stations in a state of good repair with focused maintenance that enhances the safety, security and overall look and feel of facilities.

Replacing this junction is the Red-Purple Bypass, which allows Brown Line trains to operate along dedicated tracks above the Red and Purple Line tracks.

The Red-Purple Bypass went into service on this day in 2021. It eliminated a 100-year-old junction north of the Belmont station that created a bottleneck in Red and Purple Line service.
