The revolution was peaceful and secular when Assad sent the tanks. It then became armed. It then became more religious in nature. It did not start like that. You don’t wanna go back all the way to 2011? Weird. Don’t we insist on going back to 1948 to understand Palestine?

The absolute horrors of the Assad regime exemplified by Saydnaya prison. Many prisoners are not freed yet bcs the rebels cannot get to them as they are 3 floors underground. #Syria

The more that ordinary Syrians from all backgrounds and walks of life participate in the next phase of the revolution—the less that it is dictated by geopolitical forces—the less bloody it will likely be.
As the millions of refugees who fled Syria return, we hope that they will play a part in this.
