A meaningful moment in my plant pathology journey, fueled by my passion for nematology, bacteriology, and biotech. Grateful for support from UCD Plant Pathology, APS, industry partners, and especially the guidance and lab support from Drs. Shahid Siddique & Gitta Coaker. #PlantHealth2025 🪱🦠🌱🌺

A great morning with our student and early career members at the APS Foundation Breakfast!

Thanks to your support, the APS Foundation continues to grow the future of plant pathology through funding, mentorship, and opportunity.

Historic Worm Comedy Show ✨

My name on the winner list of the raffles 👀

#worm25 was such a special experience for me as a first-time attendee. I felt truly honored to speak in the parasitism sessions and grateful for the chance to meet Nobel laureates. It felt almost unreal! Loved the comedy show 😍 and I was so happy to win a worm atlas shirt 👕.
Happy to catch up with Lesilee and Laurel (my C. elegans mentors 😍 the ones who taught me how to culture worms). I also got to meet Jui-Ching, a professor at NTU Medical School (Taiwan) who graduated from Lesilee’s lab.

I went to the poster yesterday at #worm25 and it's fantastic. Would love to try the method in the future. 🙏

New preprint! Grad student Clover Stubbert and undergrad Cherry Soe worked out a serum-free media that sustains eggshell-less C. elegans embryos all the way through development, now making it possible to access any embryonic developmental stage with small molecules

Long-term ex ovo culture of Caenorhabditis elegans embryos
The genetic tractability, transparency and invariant development of the C. elegans embryo have led to its broad adoption as a model system for the study of cell and developmental biology. Its impermea...

👀 EFR-mediated PTI restricts transient transformation and genome editing, but not T-DNA integration.
This study combines floral stage targeting 🌷, immune evasion 🛡️, and Agrobacterium engineering 🔧 to boost plant genome editing efficiency.

Floral Stage Optimization and Immune Evasion Enhance Agrobacterium-Mediated Genome Editing in Arabidopsis
Agrobacterium-mediated transformation via floral inoculation (AMT-FI) enables genetic engineering without tissue culture. It is widely used in the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana, yet its efficiency ...

Proud of Siddique Lab undergrads at the UC Davis Undergraduate Research Conference! Aarish gave a fantastic talk (rainbow effect says it all!), Emma, Lisa, and Katelin rocked their posters. Shoutout to Jonathan from Coaker Lab for his awesome damage receptor talk! Cheers to all the inspiring souls!

Fantastic work👏 Plant tandem kinases are so cool 😎
yichangsung.bsky.social
🌾 Excited to share our research on plant tandem kinase proteins (TKPs)! It’s been fascinating to explore how TKPs interplay effectors to activate plant immunity. Big thanks to my supervisor @gittacoaker.bsky.social, my undergrad student Suji Baik, and our collaborators—it's truly a team effort!
Wheat tandem kinase RWT4 directly binds a fungal effector to activate defense - Nature Genetics
This study shows that RWT4, a wheat tandem kinase, confers resistance to the fungal pathogen Magnaporthe oryzae by directly binding to the pathogen effector AvrPWT4 and activating host defense.
