At any rate, LN series not getting a proper ending isn't exactly unusual, even without controversy. It's tough to decide how to wrap things up, I suppose? Especially when you've created such a vast setting with so many characters and plot threads.

Odd thing is the anime got another season in 2021 for seemingly no reason. No new LNs since 2018, despite there apparently being enough web novel material for at least 2 more books.
Would be nice if a conclusion for the series could get released, but it's possible Touno never really had one in mind?

I've had this saved on my laptop for years, waiting to be shared for a moment like this

From what I gather searching online, he paid back what he owed in taxes and didn't have to serve jail time. But I imagine the incident damaged his reputation and relationship with publishers and so on, and perhaps diminished his writer's passion for the series too.

Wild, I would've never guessed it from watching the movie recently. I get Jim Carrey's level 11 zaniness could be exhausting, and all that Two-Face makeup had to be a real pain. But I really felt Tommy Lee Jones had to be enjoying himself, hamming it up so much. Guess we really can call him Two Face

I always like the random half-second of campfire dancing near the end

Riddler in the latest Batman movie was so depressing -- and it's no shock why if you watch Forever; he didn't have Two Face in his life to have fun with

I recall you enjoying Tetris Forever a while back, so I'll recommend my hidden gem of that "falling block" genre, Cleopatra Fortune

Some people out there claim Episode 2 is a notable improvement over Episode 1, but I fail to see much difference. Both parts are bad; both parts should be skipped. The true Sonic 4 is Sonic Mania—go play that instead!

This plays little like Sonic 1, 2, and 3. The physics is terrible, the level design is horrible, the aesthetic is awful, and even the music is bad. They didn't know what made the classics work, apparently? I don't get what went wrong. This was made by Dimps; they made great 2D Sonics before. 🤷‍♀️

25) Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episodes 1 and 2 (2010, 2012) for Mobile, PC, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, and Xbox 360. This game is trash. If it had only been a throwaway smartphone game and titled "Sonic Mobile" or something, I wouldn't have cared much. But they deemed this worthy to be THE Sonic 4.

There seems to be a spirit of cruelty baked into this tech. e.g. The AI McDonald's ad was just a bunch of people getting injured. It so often feels so off-putting to me, but maybe it resonates with the Average Folk.

It's a really solid collection, especially for the time it released. They even included the Knuckles lock-on versions of Sonic 3 and Sonic 2.

Progression of the game is better in Unwiished: you earn tokens based on performance, rather than finding them. But the graphics are a big step down. And it tells the same bad story as base Unleashed. Mixed bag... and doesn't quite reach "okay" territory IMO.

The nighttime stages in base Unleashed were a really repetitive slog, but in Unwiished they're a bit simpler and shorter (or at least, broken up into acts). No balancing boards, and no QTEs while fighting. These are appreciated improvements! But overall it's still a repetitive slog ngl.

The daytime stages in base Unleashed were a marvelous spectacle, but in Unwiished they're a lot simpler. On one hand you do get to do more platforming (as the boost is just a brief burst of speed here), but there's a much greater emphasis on drift turns. Prepare to hear Sonic's "HRRRAAAAHHH!" a lot.

24) Sonic Unleashed (2008) for the Nintendo Wii and Playstation 2. It shares the same name as the XBox 360/PS3 release, but this is its own unique game. In some ways I like this version more... and in some ways I don't. (I will call this Unwiished for clarity's sake.)

I have other complaints, but I don't want to beat a dead werehog. So I'll just say by far the best way to experience this game is via the "Unleashed Project" mod for Sonic Generations on Steam, which lets you play the 8 good Unleashed levels all you want.

My very scientific breakdown of the game is as follows:
60% bad werehog stages
10% bad hub worlds (full of boring NPCs)
10% bad cutscenes (I do not like the story... and I loathe Chip)
10% so-so bosses and annoyingly long QTE airplane stages
10% great regular 'ol Sonic stages

I think it's important for reviewers to keep in mind how much time you spend doing things in games. If this were 80% daytime and 20% nighttime, I wouldn't complain much. Even if it were an even 50/50 split, I'd understand folks having warm fuzzy memories for Unleashed. But that's just not how it is.
