some fun with blueprints. Unreal astonishes with its speed

Okay after sleeping on it and trying again in the morning with some good music going, skinning is proving to be very relaxing and almost meditative??? I love ngskintools. look at that hip crease!

To be fair, I'm still only on the spinal column and hips - I know the shoulders and knees will be a whole thing on its own. We'll see!

There's an awesome presentation from the devs of Guilty Gear Xrd that I've been referencing, alongside some cool ROM reference from www.bodiesinmotion.photo

exploring python scripting in Maya!

My phone didn't save the proper photo I took of tonight's event, but three of us showed up with the same weird mouse 😁

Last month's event (pictured) was a great time. Indie game dev can be quite a lonely path to walk down if you let it, so its great to always see people in person!

Finally taking the time to learn how to properly rig a character. I'm starting to understand Maya and 3D at a level much closer to the actual data of the scene, not just relying on what's in the viewport.

Watched Steve two nights ago - an incredibly moving, authentic and well written film with killer music that brought me to tears. Highly, highly recommended.

27 today!

dug my very first ball bounce up, from almost two years ago when I'd never animated in 3D properly before!

it feels so good to look back and see how far you've come sometimes

baaack to basics babyyyy!!!! (only this time, i'm focusing on rigging!)

over the years this picture has become increasingly more and more useful for me

final scores for our GMTK submission! didn't think we'd break top 1000 in anything, let alone top 100! super stoked!

lmao - this looks about right #gmtkgamejam #gamedev

the SPARKies was fun! I got a bunch of people to test my game last night! always results in a LOT of good feedback. now to implement! I also got some kind words which is always encouraging!

thanks to everyone who stopped by the booth last night!

The demo I played was also incredible - an extremely cohesive and narratively strong clicker game with a killer aesthetic and addictive gameplay. Just picked up the full game on Steam and can't wait to play through. Soundtrack is INCREDIBLE, too!

One of my favourite things I picked up at Develop - a beautifully graphic poster for the game Faceminer by @wristwork.bsky.social!

I spent the past two days working on Garb, in preparation to show it off at the Sparkies tonight in Bath!

some adjustments:
- health drop pickups
- no more requiring lock on to shoot
- general quality of life updates

also Garb has now been backronymed to Game.About.Rebounding.Balls!

Here's a work-in-progress bank of animations as part of a locomotion suite I've been working on with @edswain.bsky.social as part of my @limitbreak.co.uk mentorship! It's still rough and in the blocking stage at some parts, but I got it into Unity to see how it feels.

I completed a Unity bootcamp last night; 3-ish months of heavy game dev and C# learning. A genuinely lovely experience and great group of people!

Here's where I've got to after polishing the vanilla run cycle further, giving more love to the face and hands. Added a backpack and some animation to the hair too for some extra overlap #gameanimation #runcycle

here's where i've landed after spending a few hours on it this weekend! its stuff I've "learnt" before, but it's always so worth it to go back, frame through reference to really understand what's going on, and build that intuition

heyoooo I'm a @limitbreak.co.uk mentee for 2025! very grateful for the opportunity, very excited to dig into some game animation for the next 6 months and to meet more people in game dev.

authored a couple new animations for Garb! will revisit them further down the line, especially the run - but happy with them for now. #gameanimation #gamedev #solodev
