Time travel back to 1984 and try to explain to Labour voters that 40 years later Michael Heseltine would be making cogent arguments on their behalf.

“You described Reform and other parties across Europe today as among the 'right wing equivalents of the fascists in the 1930s'. Why?”

“Because that’s what they are”

@vicderbyshire.bsky.social asks Lord Heseltine about remarks he made at Conservative Party Conference.

The courtroom scene where Omar dissects the profit motive of the US justice system should should get the Nobel Prize for literature.

OK…I take it back. There is a tie for the single greatest character in television history.

Patsy Stone is the single greatest character in the history of television…and that’s a hill I will die on.

Routledge is a comic genius. Keeping Up Appearances easily blown off as low-grade farce comedy, but she’s on another planet in that show. Timing like an atomic clock.

If you've never seen or not recently revisited Patricia Routledge as "Kitty" on Victoria Wood's "As Seen On TV" it is such a gem. I wish there were far more of them.

Precisely how does showing a dead body help address or solve the root causes of terrorism? The “War on Terror” has made it worse, not better.
chrchristensen.bsky.social
How has it helped? What has it added?
chrchristensen.bsky.social
What does a picture of a pixelated body add to the story? Is there an adult human on earth who doesn’t know what a dead body looks like? And, the exposure and violent imagery encourages copycats.
chrchristensen.bsky.social
There is zero news value in showing dead bodies (including the pixelated attacker) or blood after the Manchester synagogue attack. No matter the motive or the victims, it’s just cheap terror porn and cynical voyeurism that encourages unhinged copycats. Journalistically lazy and irresponsible.

The Turkish food staple that completely changed my life? Garlic yoghurt. It was almost a religious awakening.

I don't understand why you would choose to write about TV if you think that it is self-evidently ridiculous that people might consider the most popular TV shows in the country worthy of academic discussion and serious political analysis:
In an era of AI slop and mid TV, is it time for cultural snobbery to make a comeback?
The lowbrow dominates culture and anyone who questions the status quo is dismissed as an elitist killjoy. But with bland algorithmic content on the rise, perhaps we consumers should start taking our a...
