Maintaining a large OSS project over a decade is an incredible feat, no matter the outcome at the end. But the Storybook team and community staged one of the most impressive comebacks. Being respectful with alternatives, hearing the community, and taking bold bets. Looking forward to Storybook 9!
2017-2020 was @storybook.js.org's honeymoon period. We were first time OSS maintainers, but a UI component workshop was the right tool at the right time. We could do no wrong! Then things started to unravel. 🧵

🦋 feature request: Some kind of visual loading indicator.
It is useful to know data trying to be loaded vs it just suddenly happening
Often when opening app a user will not know there feed is up to date or new data is loading and will disrupt their experience

Snr engineers, has AI tools brought you closer to code?
Often Snr folks don’t get much time in code due to other responsibilities. In theory AI tools should enable us to do code as they reduce much of the toil.
It has helped me this year, at work and for learning.

Just learned that the creator of the Material Theme for VS Code has retroactively relicensed it as a commercial product, and started threatening everyone he can find who is using the previous version which was Apache licensed
