just a sillymortal man following his sillymortal path. ready to return to our secular liberal democratic roots and totally reject the pull toward Christian nationalism and fascist autocracy underpinned and controlled by the oligarchic derp state. USAF vet
…and James A. Garfield

they assumed a lot of things and now that we know there are men like Trump with no honor, moral center, empathy or ability to reason who can, through civic apathy, become president, it’s imperative the we make serious lasting reforms to executive, judicial and congressional makeup and powers.
December 5, 2025 at 11:02 PM
yeah, well apparently they were wrong. now we’re still having to finish the CW because it was improperly ended
December 5, 2025 at 7:46 PM
it was a complicated time but i think he evolved to being against chattel slavery for moral and ethical reasons. we have to remember that slavery was a founding component of the British colonies and the first decades of the USA for over 200 years at that point. nasty habit to kick. he helped kick it

Reconstruction was admirable. racist Andrew Johnson did his best to water it down.
December 5, 2025 at 5:15 PM
Johnson tried his best to sink those efforts
December 5, 2025 at 5:14 PM
yeah well if i’d have referenced Andrew Johnson, not sure anyone would have immediately got it. as it happens, Lincoln was the one who pushed for Reconstruction and not holding the rebels to account. Johnson was against reconstruction and was friendly to racists so he was never going to do that.

he chose poorly. he threw away his whole career for this inept conspiracy to protect Hegseth. and he’ll be pardoned by trump after any courts martial conviction. obstruction of justice is the name of the grifty Trump crime spree.

humans are predisposed to autocracy/strong man/fascism. we’ve been doing that for millennia. self rule is a relatively new experiment. the weaker minds keep pulling us back to fascism. it takes education and civic responsibility/engagement to fend off that weakness. it takes work. it’s hard.
December 5, 2025 at 2:32 PM
we are on the verge of another one. no more getting back to normal. we need thorough honest reform within the construct of the living Constitution. restore civics. remove barriers to voting. give the most important civic responsibility we have a national holiday. democracy doesn’t work without us.
December 5, 2025 at 5:59 AM
well, then it’s no reach to say the t his wet dream then. it’s literally his twisted hateful vision of American racial subjugation.
December 5, 2025 at 4:40 AM
Stephen Miller likely authored it
December 5, 2025 at 4:26 AM
he’s pardoning convicted and active criminals and abducting innocent hard working humans, immigrants AND citizens.
December 5, 2025 at 4:23 AM
this is literally Gestapo level fascism.
December 5, 2025 at 4:20 AM
every democratically controlled state needs to redistrict now.
December 5, 2025 at 4:17 AM
that and we’re not at war…and he and his commander were not confused when they ordered the murder of those two injured humans clinging to a burning hull in the middle of the ocean.
December 5, 2025 at 4:11 AM
true on both accounts. i was being over simplistic in my statement. it was a complicated time.

as they all are. it seems our rotten racist heart is still beating pretty strong.
December 5, 2025 at 4:04 AM
yeah what a creep.
December 5, 2025 at 4:03 AM
imagine if Garland had immediately investigated, indicted and prosecuted Trump for leading a violent insurrection against the United States of America.
December 5, 2025 at 3:49 AM
Trump as president TWICE is proof of that.
December 5, 2025 at 3:33 AM
imagine if Lincoln had held the secessionist Confederate States to full account for trying to destroy the Union.
December 5, 2025 at 3:33 AM
maybe you need some more sleep.
December 5, 2025 at 3:15 AM
you are correct. i am not talking about Medicaid or medicare or their expansion.
December 5, 2025 at 3:15 AM
Romney vetoed a couple of things about it but the base plan was a conservative plan, democratic modifications are not. compromise is the hallmark of a liberal democracy. it’s not a big, it’s a feature.
December 5, 2025 at 3:14 AM
keep missing my point, which is the genesis of ACA/Romneycare was hatched by the conservative think tank Heritage Foundation.

the sausage making afterwards is just politricks.
