Golfing and loving life in Toledo, Ohio. I used to write things about Austin FC.
Saw this pop into my feed and WHAT. Y’all were in my backyard and I missed it?! Excited to listen.

Covered him 2014-16, and had a hunch he’d get here eventually. Been cool to see him do it his way, wait for the right job. The 2015-16 Bearcats remain my favorite team I covered.

I think if you asked people who saw his teams, I think many would make a case this isn’t even his best D-II group. Stirtz developed into the best individual, but there were at least 2 groups with more accolades. Incredible recruiter and developer.

That said, he’d fit in Indiana better than anybody since the sweater. They’d LOVE him. I just think he’d relish doing it in Iowa away from the pressure cooker. He also might stay at Drake for a decade. Dude is built different.

If Texas can throw a punch early it’ll be interesting to see how Day/Howard respond. Things have been almost too perfect thus far.

A great read. I covered McCollum from 2014-16, and he felt delightfully old school back then. Good to hear he hasn’t changed. My favorite interviews, he’s got a billion analogies like the balance beam.

Can’t wait! If both teams play like they did today I don’t think it’ll be close 😉

Not that any of these teams (or 2024🤞) would have been champs but when you add these to the list of teams who did get a shot it becomes even more staggering that the Buckeyes only have 2 titles to show from the past 3 decades. So many memorable heartbreakers.

This is college football porn, holy shit. All the potential of this team exploding at once. Defense is cooking. Jeremiah Smith is unstoppable. Treveyon rapidly ascending my favorite players list. Unbelievable.

Right down to the ‘96 Buckeyes going completely limp at home against Michigan and souring the fanbase.

My first sports memory is the 1997 Rose Bowl where Ohio State spoiled a national championship they should have never had a say in, and this year’s Rose Bowl feels like a weirdly similar matchup that couldn’t have happened at any time in between?
