New perspective out today in @jappliedecology.bsky.social.
We reflect on co-producing evidence in an effort to bridge the implementation gap, for evidence based, impact focused predator control.
What worked, what didn't and where barriers to implimentation still remain.

You can't win them all... 🧪

Congrats to @ambercowans.bsky.social and @abonetb.bsky.social on this important contribution. It was an absolute pleasure watching you both operate, and terrific to see this work from your Stats Ecology MSc out! 💯

📝 Are you using multispecies occupancy models to investigate interactions in species occupancy (i.e. co-occurrence)? 🦁🦓

Check out our new paper for advice on the number of sites you need to reliably detect interactions under different scenarios ⬇️
Sample size considerations for species co‐occurrence models
Multispecies occupancy models are widely applied to infer interactions in the occurrence of different species, but convergence and estimation issues under realistic sample sizes are common. We conduc...

🚨 New publication 📝

Out today in the royal society proceedings B. We find that diversionary feeding boosts productivity of cappercaille from 0.82 to 1.90. Indicating that this impact based method can effectively reduce the influence of predation.

Really excited to share this new article from the lab.

We synthesize the profound importance of movement and connectivity for conservation and provide a vision for future policy and management.

Let's work toward a well-connected planet for biodiversity and people:

A well-connected Earth: The science and conservation of organismal movement
Global biodiversity targets focus on landscape and seascape connectivity as a foundational component of biodiversity conservation, including networks of connected protected areas. Recent advances allo...

Looking for your first quantitative ecology post-doc? Then get in touch.

I will be co-supervising a post-doc with Lourens Swanepoel (based in SA: @Univenofficial). You will have access to many awesome data sets and the focus will be on applying hierarchical models.

Illicit releases of controversial wild animals can undermine public trust in evidence-based conservation and inflame already-sensitive discussions about what species to conserve, how, and where.
