Reminder that Deadline, The Hollywood Reporter, and Variety are all owned by a member of the AMPTP, so any story from any of them which asserts divisions within SAG-AFTRA and which is only backed up by anonymous sources should be taken with a grain of salt, to say the very least.

Such an important thing to understand about Hollywood industry but also loosely applies to trad NY publishers—they want the same books from the same writers so there are very few slots for fresh talent. Indie publishing opened the door for much more variety.
