Every time I open this app, I'm afraid of what I'm going to read. But at the same time, I know I can't hide in my bubble forever. Just been out of spoons 🫣

Is there a pain scale for autistics? I have such a difficult time describing my pain, especially when I'm expected to assign a number to it. #actuallyautistic #autistic #painscale

Sometimes Christmas can be stressful for autistic people since it often involves changes in routine, unexpected surprises, and a lot more social interaction and sensory stimuli to process

In other words - don't force someone into anything they're not comfortable doing just because it's "tradition"

Future bulk understanding of our autistic way of being will be from further enquiry into Monotropism, a purposeful strength, a leavening.

To fear and exclude diverse and divergent brain architectures will come to be viewed as yet another miserable relapse in the rise of civility and civilisation.

I absolutely hate receiving gifts, especially unexpectedly. It's not that I'm not grateful, but there is so much anxiety attached.
Asking autistics, how do you feel about receiving unexpected gifts?

My child at 8pm the night before the last day of school: "Lots of people are getting Mr. R a Christmas gift. We should get him something!"

I've been working on my 2nd rewatch through #supernatural since the end of September after my hedgehog passed away because I needed a comfort show. It's been great, but I'm almost finished now and I'm SO anxious about it being over 😭

To be absolutely clear: RFK framing vaccines as the "cause" of Autism is eugenics. First and foremost its wrong by every scientific standard. But also theres an implication that we need to "cure" or prevent Autism. Neurodivergence is not a bad thing.

Friendly reminder.
Autistic people are not neurotypicals with autism. The same goes for other conditions too.

Vaccines don't cause autism.

Autism is genetic. Autistics are wired differently and have been around for over 200k years. You need us. All efforts to eradicate us are genocidal impulses.

So let your kids get vaccines and not die of smallpox or polio or whatever.

I am in no way supporting the cutting of costs by limiting treatments, but let's be real here. Applied behavioral analysis (ABA) therapy is harmful to autistic people. There are a myriad of superior alternatives to choose from. That being said, fuck UnitedHealth.
NEW: After reviewing leaked documents, we have found UnitedHealth is strategically limiting access to a treatment for thousands of children with autism across the country in order to cut costs.

Advocates say the company’s strategy may be illegal.
