… and feel
greater in magnitude than it is. It can be jarring and shocking.
Tapping the ground would be very significant to a deafblind dog. A vibrating colllar is likely unpleasant .
christmascoffee.bsky.social
Vibration is fine if it’s through the floor. I have an alarm clock that vibrates, and watches can vibrate, but I understand what they are and consent to that concept. Training is about connection between the dog and human.
When you are deafblind, vibration or any sensory input can be magnified

My guide dog passed away. Guide dogs do NOT use corrective collars. Completely inappropriate and no excuse.
Do not make excuses for using them.
christmascoffee.bsky.social
What? Just use vibration and touch. Tactile does not mean electric shock!

I’m
A deafblind human and I can tell you now how traumatic an electric shock “correction” would be, with no warning and no connection to an actual living being.

Get their attention a different way. You are the weird one

I was like raw beef and hot cheese?

TBF doesn’t get many tourists .

I wonder if the person with the non assistance dog in a place where pet dogs are not allowed, is in favour of disabled people “getting back to work” like this govt is “promoting”. Non disabled people don’t have these additional worries #ableism

2 days off work for eye pain and then on my way back from work today, my guide dog got attacked by another dog while in a shopping mall that doesn't allow non-assistance dogs

It really has

I think this is completely lost on the government when talking about “workers” and getting people “back to work”

Make the workplace a healthy place then?

I was forced out of the workplace through lack of accommodation of my disability.

Maybe parts of this current timeline of Britain could do with some eradication - the hate, the racism, the fascism perhaps?

Still trying to work out just who they are trying to 'take back our country from'. The only threat to the country I grew up in is people who say 'take back our country'.

He’s body language is so juvenile, even an entertainer at a holiday park would cringe

They want it both ways. They won’t support disabled people and they also won’t support equality by actually enforcing the Equality Act. If disabled people were accommodated as well as non disabled people, they wouldn’t need as much support. Benefits are cheaper than accommodating equality.

One, it’s a trash newspaper

Two, people are saying ew we don’t want to know

Three, if he does talk publicly about this, it’s on him.

We are allowed to be different and we are all unique. That does not involve superiority and inferiority.

It is very much an afterthought, with all disabilities given the same provision. So there might be space for wheelchairs but far from the stage which is no good for deaf/blind people, difficulty in actually booking tickets making access less equal. Applies also to theatre and stage productions

I am deaf. I am deafblind.
How deaf people feel what decisions deaf people make about what aids and strategies to use, and how to view the history of deafness, is individual. As it should be. Because we are all unique. There isn’t a hierarchy no matter what school you went to.

Tons of respect for Greta Thunberg and the flotillas. I know Thunberg wants us all to focus on the genocide and ethnic cleansing, but allow us a moment to acknowledge your courage. Caring for yours is easy, and we share that with fascists. Caring for the stranger? That's the level up.

I thought that was just a bad obsession with hair straighteners. Such odd hair.

Speak you yourself, not all deaf people .
