I think I may follow the lead of others who have reverted to mid-2010s social media activity when many/most of us would blog elsewhere and then use social media such as Twitter as distribution channels. For those who don't want to bother with their own blogs , #linkedin is decent

Can anyone articulate the value of the value based care in chronic kidney disease in the era of the #4pillars? Trad #vbc was based on the premise that generic angiotensin blockade was sufficient (false) and underutilized (proven to be wrong by the #upmc trial that demonstrated that the perceived […]

The screenshots are so cool (discussed mortality up to the end of 2023)

Interview in late 2025 discusses excess deaths (estimated as 2% by the interviewee and attributed to long covid) and drops in mortality due to glp1ra estimated to be ~6% by 2030 […]

One cannot avoid brute memorization in med school. For starters, many medical situations require very fast response ie one does not have the luxury of time to think things through. Secondly, the sheer volume of material that one has to master to finish med […]

Premature closure is close tie to analysis- paralysis and therapeutic inertia as cause for bad medical decision making. In an attempt to address the last two , AI deployment in the medical space will exacerbate the former as no one will take a few moments to fact check the AI.

I expect the #glp1ra online and in-real-life shaming and bullying to get worse after the publication of #SURPASS-CVOT #Tirzepatide #dulaglutide.
I think my #gigablock game will surpass (pun intended) my peak of the early pandemic era esp after I have gone through the egfr data.

Are there any #gpus offering high counts of integer operations per second? I have tested a bunch of NVIDIAs, and their integer arithmetic throughput is definitely smaller than their FP32.

Colleagues, patients, former students, and random followers in social media have been sending me this *great news* in DMs, emails, and text.

Great day today for #zerokale.

Many of the weird things that you hear people say or do are, at core, a rejection of reality because the problems of the latter are hard to contemplate and solve by those who were raised in the culture of the make believe. The crash landing will be very hard.

The proper summary of the RECOVER anosmia study is that a large %(×) of the population don't know they have smell impairment and that a history of covid increases the risk by *10%*.

(×) The percentage will depend on cohort selection and technique to ascertain the loss of smell.

The Long COVID Denial Zone: When the Pandemic Isn’t “Over” For Everyone

I wrote a version of this article and posted it, and pulled it down to correct the reference links. Then our large family, who so far mostly avoided SARS-COV-2 infection, had two infections, and I had to focus on taking care of them. Here is the updated version. Thank you to all those who sent messages of support.

Onward!

America has entered what I call the COVID denial zone, that strange psychological space where millions pretend everything’s back to normal while a growing shadow population struggles with long-term illness.

The Psychology of Mass Denial

Psychology tells us something powerful about human perception: personal experience trumps everything else. This cognitive tendency is called the availability heuristic (mental shortcut), we judge probability and risk based on examples that come easily to mind.

Ventura County, surging here, take all precautions. One of the locals here... #covid

It takes nine healthy, vigorous humans to keep 60 horses fed and exercised. Today, six of us are sick with COVID-19, influenza A, or both. Three were in bed or at the hospital this afternoon.

It's gnarly here in Ventucky.

The alien eye-octopus infested sheep asked to count the digits of π scene in episode 7, season 1 of 'Alien Earth' is peak TV and appropriate, yet immediate cause for termination, if one finds themselves micromanaged by their supervisor.

May want to watch SA. This is the single genetic change that has the potential to de attenuate clinical severity of covid to that of NL63 and dramatically reduce the frequency of LC. Or it becomes like the Feline and Porcine corona, and everyone melts from inside 🤣.

@musicman There are two questions here: 1) can Tylenol cause autism (possible, just not probable and the magnitude of risk is around 5 to 10% in some analysis but not in others of the same dataset) 2) is Tylenol behind the increase in autism? The answer is most definitely NOT because the numbers […]

Mendelian Randomization works if the DAG (from wiki) holds true.
These assumptions have probably held true in <10 studies since the inception of the method, all else is GIGO.

"Z is the genetic variants,
X is the exposure,
Y is the outcome of interest,
U are confounders."

Hear me out: Alien rebooted, but the crew of the USCSS Nostromo is starfaring overmedicated on Tylenol while doping on mRNA and other psychedelic vaccines. Do the Xenomorphs come out autistic after gestating inside the crew?
There are so many possibilities in the acetaminophen/vaxx cosmos.
