@ai6yr You have to start before the age of 31, because it requires intensive training and early retirement, so they want to make sure they get enough years out of you before retirement.

@ai6yr Basically, they're hoping to get 20 years out of everyone that makes it through training before they hit mandatory retirement at age 56. Training at the FAA Academy is several months, and then once assigned to an ATC facility it takes a few more years to finish training and certification […]

A hospital needs help identifying a patient who was found injured in Malibu.

The male patient appears to be in his mid-to-late 30s, according to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.

He was found injured in Malibu and has been hospitalized since Sept. 26.

He stands 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 205 pounds. He has brown eyes, dark brown hair, a long goatee and a full mustache. He has a tanned complexion and light-colored moles near his nose and on his chest.

That’s lower than the law enforcement cut off which was 38 for a long time. Essentially being a controller is supposed to be very, very difficult work. Transferring from that to just working the taxpayer services phone lines at IRS would be a tremendous steps downwards in terms of stress.

Interesting, you have to be younger than 31 to be an air traffic controller. Is that a new thing? Or do you get to still be in ATC if you started before the age of 31 but you are now older?
