A new #birddivination wrote itself in me. They keep astonishing, these strange visitations. This one might be my favorite of all. The original 100 and the story behind them are at almanacofbirds.org. This one is available as a solo print and card at bit.ly/warbler-time

It’s a joy to volunteer at bird banding. There’s little bits of magic everywhere.

How do I focus on laundry when the world’s on fire?
Maybe that’s exactly what we do—brush teeth, sip tea, weed the garden.
Steady ourselves with small rituals.
Root in the real.
Remember what matters.
And when the time comes, rise ready to fight for the world we believe in.

Recently escaped for some solitude in nature. It is the only thing that ever seems to fully restore my soul. Sunrises are my favorite.

Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1k/month. A year later, nearly half had housing.

They also had fewer ER visits, nights spent in a hospital, and jail stays.

The report estimates that this reduction in public service use SAVED the city $589k.

Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1,000 a month. A year later, nearly half of participants said they had housing.
Participants in Denver's basic-income program reported having more-secure housing, though results were similar in the trial and control groups.

Story and photos I did for Earth Island Journal in Sept. The scary part? We still had a lingering bloom in Lake Erie into November this year.

Told a friend I can’t decide at what point I start sharing more of my opinion or if I’m more influential using my voice selectively. (Example: I’m outspoken about environment but limit political opinions due to freelancing.) He sent me this article. Thoughts?
